Wotton House Country Estate Hotel

Principal Hayley undertook a programme of works to transform Wotton House into a prestigious country house hotel.

Fileturn was appointed to carry out the sensitive refurbishment, following a successful partnership on other Principal Hayley sites.

Working closely with Principal Hayley’s in-house design department, Fileturn transformed the ground floor public areas and bedroom suites, combining the modern style required of a country house hotel, without overpowering the heritage of the building.

The reception and lounge areas were fully refurbished, as was the Morning Room and Orangery Bar which overlooks the Grade II listed gardens. This look and feel has been translated across the Old Library, Drawing Room and 13 executive bedrooms.

It was important for Principal Hayley to work with a contractor with a track record for working sympathetically and conscientiously on iconic buildings, and who could work effectively within the confines of a fully operational hotel.

The project drew on all of Fileturn’s skills and experience to blend the new modern design into the existing listed building whilst preserving the building’s original features.

As always in a programme of this kind, we worked in close partnership with the hotel management to minimise disruption to staff and guests.
