DoubleTree by Hilton London - West End

Fileturn undertook a large redevelopment project for this DoubleTree hotel, which was split into two phases.

Phase 1 focused on creating 12 new bedrooms from the original meeting rooms on the ground floor and basement level. This was achieved by reconfiguring walls, corridors and back of house area to create a seamless and elegant walkway for guests.

A new comprehensive M&E element was completed to serve the new rooms and corridor
layout.

Phase 2 involved deconstructing and removing one floor, the roof and existing internal structure. The new build saw the addition of a two-storey steel frame extension, with Metsec construction to create 62 additional bedrooms on the fourth and fifth floors. Existing rooms on the third floor have been stripped back to the original structure and have been refurbished to meet the Hilton DoubleTree Hotel brand standards.

Fileturn completed all work including demolition and disposal, mechanical and electrical systems, new curtain walling, Schuco window systems, Sarnafil roofing system along with new plant deck on the roof.

Access to floor levels that were under construction was restricted and
accessible only via the addition of a temporary external hoist adjacent to the scaffolding.

Fileturn worked very closely with the local residents’ association which included monitoring of noise and dust levels and crane lifts. The project was registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme and achieved excellent ratings following site audits. We managed the full road closure for the duration of the works, whilst
allowing full access for ambulances travelling to Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.
