Fileturn creates an impressive new Members Club for Dogs

Aug 03 2022

WagWorks is a new dog spa concept, opening its first site in Fulham, London, last month. Fileturn were commissioned to turn the empty shell of 4000 sq ft into an inviting and useable space for dogs. Whilst this project was not a hotel or restaurant its high quality and detailed finishing meant it suited our capabilities perfectly.

The designer, Joanna Simpson of Simpson Studio, created ‘a home from home, as soon as you walk through the door.’ The design included healthcare and wellness rooms, a scent trail to simulate, engage and tire the dogs, barn-style dining/time-out huts, a central ‘park’ area with rubber flooring and K9Grass (drains lie below the squares of synthetic turf, so the area can be flushed after use), an air conditioning system with six changes of air per hour and a quiet reading room. There was also a central, curved “forest walk” corridor, designed to aid natural greeting behaviour for dogs (avoiding face to face first).

The space was designed for dog owners too with painted panelled walling, glazed crittall dividers, lounge chairs by Danish masters and custom benches and beds in leather and English Oak.

Fileturn turned the design concept into a reality with complex bespoke joinery, a full MEP installation including a drainage system, kitchen installation, colourful floor and wall finishes and internal decoration. The end result is more of a boutique hotel with exceptional amenities for dogs, rather than a home.
