Following the strip-out and structural work came the fit-out of the restaurant. Alfresco dining is a key theme for Côte restaurants, facilitated by bespoke foldaway shop fronts created by Fileturn’s specialist joinery division.

Fileturn’s master craftsmen also provided high quality custom-made furniture and fittings in oak throughout the restaurant. These ranged from the front-of-house bars, waitress stations and tables, to the vanity units and mirror arrangements in the toilets, where the attention to design and detail is as strong as in the front-of-house, providing a holistic experience for Côte’s customers.

Côte Restaurants

Côte bistro chain turned to Fileturn when it needed an experienced main contractor for the challenging fit-out of its Horsham restaurant. The restaurant occupied part of Horsham’s former assembly rooms in a listed building in the town centre, with significant access problems and structural challenges in creating the designer’s vision.

The strip-out and structural alterations involved as the building was very neglected. Multiple concealed ceilings and three layers of floor finishes had to be removed before reaching the shell of the building to begin the fit-out.

Interior design agency Martin Brudnizki created an imposing design to make the most of the building’s period details. These included an ornate high ceiling on the second floor which was accentuated by the introduction of a triple height atrium. This put pressure on the project timetable as the technical design could not be created until a modern low ceiling masking the original one was removed.

Fileturn’s expert restorers renewed the ornate ceiling; at 12 metres above the ground floor, this was a challenging task.
